Exploring Humanism

The living tradition we Unitarian Universalists share draws from Humanist teachings which counsel us to heed the guidance of reason and the results of science, and warn us against idolatries of the mind and spirit. We Unitarian Universalists believe in the authority of reason and conscience. The ultimate arbiter in religion is not a church, nor a document, nor an official, but the personal choice and decision of the individual.

Our mission is to explore Humanism as a critical thinking, science-based life stance, free from superstition and the supernatural.

We do not believe in the divinity of any person. We are all part of an interconnected web of existence. We are each responsible for deciding our own beliefs as there is no dogma in Unitarian Universalism. We are a welcoming congregation embracing the diversity of people. Membership is not required to participate.

The Exploring Humanism Group meets first Thursdays at 7:00 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Charlotte, 234 N. Sharon Amity. Join Us!
